James Tyler
James Tyler began working on custom electric guitars in the 1970s, gaining a reputation among top session players and artists in Los Angeles for his ability to deliver exactly what they needed. His hands-on experience with thousands of guitars helped him develop deep insight into what players want.
Today, Tyler guitars combine state-of-the-art technology, such as computerized milling and aerospace engineering, with meticulous hand craftsmanship. Despite using advanced tools, James prioritized the "human factor," ensuring each guitar feels personal and not machine-like. Skilled craftsmen shape, sand, paint, buff, and finish the guitars largely by hand, emphasizing quality and tradition.
Every guitar is carefully assembled, tested, and fine-tuned to create an instrument that feels like an old friend from the first play. Operating without investors or compromises, James Tyler Guitars remains based in Los Angeles, maintaining its original spirit and dedication to excellence.
Since 2014, James Tyler guitars have also been manufactured in Japan under the James Tyler Guitars Japan brand. Despite their more affordable price, these guitars do not compromise on quality and deliver the same premium playing experience as their U.S.-made counterparts.
