The Alnico 2 Pro for Strat uses flat (non-staggered) hand ground alnico 2 rod magnets and heavy Formvar mag wire with a special wind pattern to produce that classic bouncy tone you’d expect from the best 50s Stratocaster pickups. The flat pole pattern is designed to improve string balance and response on guitars that use lighter strings or have flatter fretboards. The treble attack is soft and sweet, the mids feel just slightly scooped, while the low end has a vintage sponginess. Chords have a nice, smooth feel, and single notes have a singing, musical character.

This is a reverse wound, reverse polarity middle pickup for noiseless operation in positions 2 & 4. Aside from the flat pole pieces, Duncan uses the same materials to build these as they do for all their vintage Fender style single coil pickups.

This pickup comes complete with waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wire and traditional keyed bottom plate. Like all Duncan pickups, the Alnico 2 Pro Flat Stratocaster pickups are potted in their wax formulation for squeal free performance.

Neck/Middle/Bridge position models will have the same output, wind direction and magnetic polarity.
Middle RwRP position (reverse wind/reverse polarity) – choose this to have a pickup that will be hum-cancelling with one of our neck or bridge models. All sets, except the Jimi Hendrix signature model, come with a Middle RWRP as the Middle Pickup.
